At the weekend, we all travelled to North Devon to share the stage with Barnstaple Male Voice Choir. This event had been about a year in the planning and came about after Jules recorded a CD with Barnstaple MVC last year.
We had all arranged to stay at the Cedars Inn just on the edge of Barnstaple which was near to the Church in Fremington where our concert was going to be. On arrival most of us congregated in a quiet corner of the bar for a drink and to make a plan!
By 5pm all the BlueBelles had made it to Barnstaple and were attired in their usual uniform of black dress and blue choirdigan. In fact everyone was ready apart from Jules. It seemed that whilst he managed to remind all the BlueBelles to bring their choirdigans and a suitable pairs of tights, he had failed to bring his dress shirt. Fortunately a Blue shirt was quickly substituted and we were soon on our way. Arriving at the church, we were greeted by the Gents of Barnstaple Male Voice Choir who had laid on a rather fine tea for us.
Once everyone had eaten their fill of sandwiches and cakes we headed into the church for a quick rehearsal. We were opening the concert with our performance of Vuelie from Frozen which requires that we all sing and walk, preferably together and in time.
The concert was a great success and we really enjoyed sharing the stage with Barnstaple MVC and we would all really like to thank them for the invitation and for their hospitality. In the view below you can listen to us singing ‘You Raise me Up’ as the joint finale to the concert.
After the concert, we returned to the Cedars Inn with the entire Male Voice Choir for the afterglow which involved much wine and more singing! We are always delighted to put on joint concerts and will be planning an event so we can invite Barnstaple MVC to join us on stage again, this time in Wiltshire.
