The BlueBelles were delighted to be asked to sing at the switching on of the Marlborough Christmas Lights this year. This annual event is organised by Marlborough Town Council and brings together a number of local groups on the stage outside the Town Hall.
Arriving just before 6pm we met up in the Town Hall for a quick warm up. A chance to get the vocal chords going as well as last minute debates about our ‘look’. Outdoor events are always tricky – on the one hand we need to keep our ‘blue’ look but at the same time, need to dress for the weather.
The BlueBelles achieved both of these by adding tinsel and blue Santa hats. We then headed out to the stage just before the lights were switched on.
Crowds gathered for the lights switch on
Not daunted by the size of the crowds, The BlueBelles were on stage immediately after the lights were switched on. We started our set with our jazzy version of Jingle Bells. This was followed by our arrangement of Santa Baby, slightly tweaked to include Christmas Decorations bought from The Merchant House.
The BlueBelles about to go on stage
We had a great time singing at the Marlborough Christmas Lights and thank you to Marlborough Town Council for inviting us. If you missed The BlueBelles at the Light switch on you can hear us again on Saturday 30 November in Marlborough Town Hall at 10am.
